Reading papers gets apprentices up to speed

“Sawing, drilling, filing and soldering are all part of an industrial apprenticeship at EWM,” says Marcel Wäschenbach, an apprentice technical systems planner.

As part of the ZeiLe project, Marcel introduced his chosen profession and his apprenticeship at EWM.

During the project, apprentices receive the Rhein-Zeitung newspaper for one year.

The goal is that the apprentices will improve their language skills and general knowledge by reading the paper regularly. This is monitored scientifically by the University of Koblenz-Landau, that evaluates the results of monthly quizzes taken by the apprentices.

In addition, the ZeiLe participants can take advantage of seminars held by IHK (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) Koblenz
